Behind the Scenes: ELR Rifle Build Video with Wyoming's Best Gun Shop
When Jeremy from Wyoming Gun Company in Casper, Wyoming gave us a call, we knew it was going to be a good one. Working with their team has become one of our favorite partnerships at Checked In Media. Why? Because their story is complex, their market is misunderstood, and the creative demands are high. It’s exactly the kind of project we love to dig into.
Content Creation for Wyoming's Best Gun Store
At Checked In Media, we’re proud to create all the content for Wyoming Gun Company, widely recognized as Wyoming’s best gun shop. From video to SEO, everything we do is built around telling their story the right way and connecting them with firearm owners, hunters, and competitive shooters across the country. Our creative partnership has turned into a case study in how to market firearms in a restricted ad environment.
The Challenge of Communicating Firearm Stories in a Digital World
Most ad agencies struggle when it comes to working in the firearms space. Big tech doesn’t play nice with gun content, and if you’ve ever tried to run an ad campaign for a gun shop, you already know the limitations. Platforms block or bury it, algorithms flag it, and paid media becomes nearly impossible.
That’s what Wyoming Gun Company was up against. They were spending a lot of money—getting very little return—and basically just paying folks to sit around without real, trackable results.
That’s where we came in.
We believe content is the first thing you should be thinking about, and this is a perfect case study of why. In a restricted digital environment, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and strong, authentic video storytelling is your best option—and arguably, your only real option.
Turning Content Into a Connection
What we’ve been able to build with Wyoming Gun Company is a real content engine. We’re not just selling products; we’re telling stories about the parts, the process, and the people behind them. That builds trust. That builds reach. And that creates touchpoints with potential customers—not just here in Casper, but across the country.
We’ve worked together on several great pieces of content, including our NRL Hunter Competition shoot with Tim Evans and Pat Ginder of At Ease Hunting. This new ELR (Extreme Long Range) rifle build video continues that momentum.
Shooting the ELR Rifle Build
This was a fun one.
We set up shop in the gunsmithing room at Wyoming Gun Company. The whole video centers around Pat walking through the custom 7 PRC ELR rifle build, covering every component: the Nightforce ATACR 7-35x, XLR Apex chassis, TriggerTech Diamond trigger, Falkor Defense action, and more.
Pat’s a left-handed shoot
er, which adds a layer of complexity to any build like this. He’s also a veteran, a hunting guide, and the owner of At Ease Hunting. He speaks from real-world experience, and it shows. There’s no script here—it’s just Pat, being Pat, and that’s what makes the video so engaging.
Production Breakdown
We shot the primary angle on a Canon R5, and our B-cam was a Canon R5C with a macro lens to capture the details. Lighting-wise, we went big:
- Aputure 600D for our main key
- A couple of Aputure 300Ds to shape and fill
- Nanlite PavoTubes to create separation and some motivated backlight
The gunsmithing room isn’t massive, so we had to get creative. But by layering our lighting and using depth, we were able to make the space feel dynamic and three-dimensional.

Why This Type of Content Works
This build video isn’t just eye candy—it performs. Competitive shooters, hunters, and builders are actively searching for this kind of content. They're not clicking ads. They're watching YouTube videos. They want to know what others are building, how components are working, and why certain choices were made.
That’s where this content hits hard. It brings value first and sales second.
Pat Ginder: A Natural on Camera
If you haven’t followed Pat Ginder yet, check out At Ease Hunting. Whether or not you’re into ELR competition, Pat’s hunting stories and outdoor lifestyle content are worth watching. He’s one of those people who’s just good on camera—authentic, knowledgeable, and real.
More Content Coming
We haven’t released the ELR competition content yet, but it’s on deck for 2025. We’re looking to expand our storytelling in the competitive shooting and action sports world. The mindset behind competitive shooting—the mental pressure, the precision, the process—that’s where real storytelling lives.
This ELR build video is the start of something bigger.
